The Talon Family
The Assassination of Two
March

The last time Helbis was in New York City she had run away from the people who loved her the most,
people who took her in as a child and raise
her like she was one of them. She may have been from a different mother and
look nothing like her family, but they were her family, and they loved her. They fought for her. They would have died for
her if it came down to it.
She
glanced over at her sister Gabriel, the
tall blonde with snow-white skin and
killer green eyes dressed as if she was ready to run a law firm. She wore a
long black business dress and had her hair pulled back in a ponytail. Her body must like Helbis was the
very definition of being in shape. They had trained their bodies for hours back
at home in their mansion to be ready for any mission. The missions which took them all over the world to fight evil. They
worked for a clandestine Division of the US armed forces called Paladin. Paladin
did everything in their power to stop evil from touching the world, sometimes
it worked, sometimes it didn’t, but either way,
the Talons would be sent in.
Outside
of the obvious difference between Helbis and Gabriel; Helbis was Egyptian by
birth and had the sand tone skin to prove it, they had vastly different
abilities hidden in their bodies. Gabriel had green dots all over her hands,
the dots where prices of a meteorite their father was working on in his lab and
exploded, giving all his blood children of Alexander powers. Gabriel’s
new-found gifts were that she could turn
herself or anything she touched invisible.
While
Helbis wasn’t in the lab but had magical tattoos on her arms and legs given to her by her birth mother, who so
happen to be a witch. The tattoos weren’t as powerful as other witches as far
as Helbis knew, but they give the agility of a cat and the lovely power to
transform into a black feline if she wished. A black cat the same hue as her hair and with dark brown eyes just like her
human form.
“After
we are done here,” Gabriel said as Helbis fixed her own business dress, “we can
have some fun, hit the town, get a few drinks and find a nice boy to dance with
at the club.”
“That
is the best thing you had said all day,” Helbis said back with a smile. She has wanted
some alone time with her sister and after their last mission, fighting some
Soul Binder in New Orleans, it would be nice to have an easy-going night.
But first, they had to get through this meeting
with Kirk Kiker, the billionaire of the Frontier Technology. The biggest
weapons manufacturer in the world and who was always on the cutting edge of
technology; technology Alexander Talon had sold to them making them all rich be
on belief or richer.
The
meeting was being held because Kirk Kiker need help with some kind of new
bio-steel and Alexander was the man to do it. However, Alexander couldn’t come
hers in person because he was in a coma back at home and only could place his
mind into the robots he built for the house. The girls, mostly Gabriel, had to
come negotiate the terms of their
assistance, and she brought Helbis along
for the fun of it.
Fun for
Gabriel miserable for Helbis. Kirk had a thing for Helbis, a thing she did not
have for him, but as always, he begged for her to come along. At least the
night would be enjoyed even if she had to grit her teeth through the meeting.
The
elevator stopped at the top of Kirk’s tower where his office and penthouse were
with the doors opening.
Gabriel
stepped out with Kirk turning to face them. He was a nice-looking man, only
twenty-five years old, four years older than Gabriel and Helbis. He treated his
body well keeping himself in shape, nothing like them, but he did a good enough
job for running a company. He had a killer smile and a nasty scar over his left
brown eye.
“Ah,
ladies,” he said opening his arms. “It is so good to see you both.” He didn’t
shake their hands but instead given them both hugs. Hugs either one of them
wanted but didn’t stop him. Kirk was nice, quick on his feet and better with
his tongue but was a playboy by every
term of the word. He like drinking, partying and most of all the ladies.
Something,
Helbis knew would only cause her grief in the long run.
“Good
to see you as well,” Gabriel said.
“The
same,” Helbis said after her hug.
“Ma’am,”
A tall man with black hair and a body which told the story he was once a
soldier who didn’t lose the habits of working out. He smiled a Gabriel holding
his hand out. “Nice to meet you,” he said. “I am Decker Morrison.”
She
smiled back at him. He turns to do the same to Helbis who took his strong hand
and couldn’t help but notice his perfect jawline
and deep hazel eyes. “Nice to meet you,” Helbis said.
“Bodyguard?”
Gabriel asked Kirk.
Kirk
laughed and placed a hand on Decker’s
shoulder. “He couldn’t pay enough to be around him all the time,” Decker said.
“We are old friends.”
“We
grew up on the same block,” Kirk said. “
“You
were not born into money?” Helbis asked.
“Oh
no,” Kirk said. “I made this all myself.” He looked around a little. “And this
old fool kept the bullies off of me back then.””
“Yeah,
then I realized how annoying he was and started stomping on him myself,” Decker
grin.
“So, I
pay him not to hurt me anymore,” Kirk joked, “and we became friends afterward.”
“Sounds
like a way to win friends,” Gabriel said.
“It was
back then,” Decker said heading to catch the elevator. “It was nice meeting you
both.” He stepped into the steel box and told Kirk, “I’ll investigate that
event we talked about.”
“Let me
know,” Kirk waved at him with the doors closing, and he turns back the girls.
“Now let’s get this meeting over so we can have some real fun.”
